Hi,
Thanks for the reply - no I've searched the computer and no Access software folder is shown to exist - I looked at the link suggested but I don't think that it will resolve the issue. It only seems to cover updates that are installed and causing problems and allows an
uninstall. The update seems to try to install every day since upgrading to W10 on or about 07/08/2015

Hi,
I would suggest you to run SFC and check if the update installs. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue.
Refer to these steps to perform a SFC scan:
a) Press Windows key + X, select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated command prompt.
b) In the command prompt type the following command: sfc /scannow and press enter.
Keep us posted if you face any issues on windows in future. We will be glad to help you.
Thanks & Regards,AS

Thanks Annu
I have run the scan as suggested and the result was that no issues were found.
I am still getting the update trying to install and failing.
I have also done a search for anything relating to Access and no files or folders are found relating to the program.

I have a customer that had a program written for them - it is in Access 2002 and is a .mde file; they tried to install it on a Vista Home Premium 64 bit system but the programmer said there were issues with Vista. We upgraded (not clean install) to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit; then did an Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. They also loaded Office 2010 Pro on the system. They also have had the programmer tried to reload his program. The program goes into Program Files (x86) and then its own directory. In Program Files, there is Office, Office 10 and Office 12.If you double-click on the shortcut, it flashes on the screen for a millisecond and goes away. If you try to go into the folder and Open the program with Access 2002, it says Couldnt Find system.mdw; this file is required for setup. If I try to open it with Access 2010, it opens but hangs - programmer said it was the incompatibility between 2002 and 2010, which I would believe. It only doesnt work on this system; it does work on two other systems - one running Windows XP and the other running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
